Leveraging Data & AI

Posted: Jun 24, 2019 in News & Events

We’d like to invite you to a workshop to help small and medium sized manufacturers leverage data to create a sustainable competitive advantage. The event is targeted at leaders and decision makers at manufacturing firms who are interested in exploring how they can collect, analyze and use data as well as learn about opportunities to use AI tools. Recent advances have made these tools more accessible to smaller to medium sized firms. You no longer need a sizable IT department to take advantage of data analytics and artificial intelligence tools. Adopting the right technologies in these areas can help you identify new business models and growth opportunities that were not possible before. They can also keep your firm competitive in the face of changing demands from your customers and suppliers.

The event takes place on June 24 at TechPlace in Burlington. It begins with 8:30am breakfast/registration and ends at 2pm.

The focus is very much on practical content that will help you identify specific opportunities in your own firm. We will also introduce you to a number of government organizations and technology firms that can assist you with planning next steps.

These government and non-profit organizations are organizing the event:

  • TechPlace and the Burlington Economic Development Corporation

  • Golden Horseshoe Manufacturing Network

  • Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade

  • McMaster University CIRC (part of engineering department)

  • National Research Council – Industrial Research Assistance Program

Ontario Centres of Excellence

Examples and case studies from experienced practitioners will be a highlight – including a session where a team of strategy and technology experts will work on-stage with a volunteer firm from the audience to identify specific opportunities to leverage data and lay out an action plan with costs and quantifiable benefits.

In the last session of the event, you will select up to 5 organizations (from among the government groups and technology firms participating) for 10 minute one-on-one meetings to discuss your firm’s context and how they may be able to help.

Tickets are $30 for attendees from manufacturing firms and $90 for others.

This event is a great opportunity to obtain practical information and contacts to start your path towards greater competitiveness. We hope to see you there.
